Am I on the right path? Is this normal? Did I make the right decision? Do I really want this? What do I actually want? What am I doing wrong? Is it always going to be like this? Where do I start? Why am I like this? How do I move forward? What’s wrong with me? How can I fix this? These negative thoughts and questions are tangled up and you are ready to get it all sorted out.

Life is not exactly as you hoped it would be.

Being a 20-something can be so weird. You may be into your college life or in the workforce. You may be in a steady committed relationship or finding yourself in casual situationships, in the dating game, or ridin’ solo. You might feel very independent, or maybe you are still leaning on your family for support. There are many pressures, expectations, and responsibilities during this stage of life. Hello overwhelm! You know something isn’t quite right and maybe now is the time address it.

As you look around at others your age and see their highlight reel on social media, the comparisons start to creep in. That voice in your head gets louder: “You are not good enough.” “You aren’t going to make it as an adult in this world” “How do they have it all together?” “What am I doing wrong?” “Ugh, what is wrong with me?”

You’re Ready to Level Up

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just find a tiktok that would be the key to solving all your problems? Some life hack that would just give you the quick fix answer? JThat would be so nice, right? You might have all the knowledge and feel like you know what you should be doing to gain control of your life or find some resolution… but as you know, there is no quick and easy fix. You may have tried to figure it out but your’e finding it may be time start addressing the trickier stuff.

Your 20’s are pivotal years in life. They can be filled with growth, learning, challenge, and triumph. They can also be filled with questioning, doubt, struggle, and defeat.

Just because you struggle does not mean you are not on the right path. In fact, the opposite is true. Everyone goes through hard times — it is the ones who persevere through, who choose to do the right thing in the tough times, and who search for meaning in the seemingly chaotic nature of life — who make it out on the other side a more beautiful and wise version of themselves.

So, how can I get there? How can I become that person?

Therapy with me is relational. It is a two-way street — through our therapeutic relationship, you are free to ask questions, make changes, and try out new ways of thinking and behaving. It is open. You are allowed to be your most authentic self without having to worry about judgement or criticism.

During our time together, you will learn ways to manage your thoughts, coping skills, decision-making skills, and growth strategies. So that, at the end of your therapeutic journey, you will emerge with a newfound confidence to take on the next season of your life.

Its time to break away from what was and starting creating what will be with mindful intention.

WHAT WE’LL DO TOGETHER

Counseling can help you:

Quiet that Negative Voice

You know that voice in your head that says that you aren’t good enough? In therapy, you will learn the importance controlling of your thoughts and your mind — rather than letting it control you. Discover the power of using your mind for good.

Improve Quality of Life

After taking charge of your mind, you will work on how your day-to-day decisions and behaviors are impacting your life. Through a realistic understanding of where you are versus where you want to be, you can begin to make small steps, daily changes, to creating the you that you truly want to be.

Build Strong Relationships

Change happens in the context of relationships. You do not exist in isolation. In therapy, you will uncover your relational patterns of the past — learn from them — and discover how to create meaningful relationships with others.

Common questions about young adult counseling

  • Your parents can be billed automatically either in full or in part. Some families also choose to put money in your account to pay me directly. Confidentiality applies even when payment comes from parents.

  • Technically, the brain finishes its development for people in their mid to late 20’s. This is typically what is meant by young adult. While there is some flexibility here, I focus mostly on those still in development in their 20’s.

  • Of course! I may not always have your first preference available but I understand how life can be. I will try to be as flexible as I can to accommodate your scheduling needs.

Identifying the pattern is awareness, choosing not to repeat the cycle is growth. Now is your time. You’ve got this.
